MICRODEEP® micro-macro depth electrodes
The DIXI Medical MICRODEEP® micro-macro depth electrodes are sophisticated medical tools designed for use in neurosurgery, specifically for Stereo-electroencephalography (SEEG) procedures. These electrodes are crucial for accurately locating the source of seizures in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. Characterized by their small diameter and flexi-rigid structure, they feature both macro-contacts and deployable micro-contacts (tetrodes) at their distal end. This unique design enables clinicians to record both broad and highly detailed, single-unit brain activity, providing invaluable data for pre-surgical evaluation and functional mapping of epileptic foci. It is important to note that these consumables are intended for clinical research use only.
Diameter: 0.8 mm
Platinum / Iridium macro-contacts – 2 mm length
Micro-contacts consist of tetrodes made of Tungsten with a ~20 micron microwire:
Tetrode diameter of 70 microns
Micro-contacts deploy as tetrodes up to 2mm in length
Micro-contacts deploy between macro-contacts 1 & 2 at the distal end of the electrode
Two electrode output connectors :
1 connector for macro-contact connection (green connector)
9 macro-contacts / 2 tetrodes (8 micro-contacts)
Active exploration length ranges from 33.2 to 50.8 mm

Two electrode output connectors :
1 connector for macro-contact connection (green connector)
1 connector for connecting micro-contacts (yellow connector)
Special Features of these Depth Electrodes:
Dual Recording Capability:
They offer both macro and micro recordings, enabling broad and detailed single-unit brain activity analysis.
This is achieved through macro-contacts and deployable micro-contacts (tetrodes).
